Cheryl Bansal, MD

Cheryl Bansal, MD is a premiere dermatologist, surgeon, and founder of Medical & Aesthetic Dermatology. She provides central Maryland with the latest medical technologies and expert dermatologic services. From medical to cosmetic procedures, Dr. Bansal takes the time to make sure each patient’s experience with her practice is one of satisfaction and education. It’s Dr. Bansal’s mission that patients leave her office feeling confident and pleased with their individual care and treatment plan.

Before becoming the youngest board-certified dermatologist the year she graduated, Dr. Bansal was accepted into the prestigious combined BA/MD program at Lehigh University and Drexel University College of Medicine, and completed her undergraduate studies in three years. She completed her Dermatology residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where she was elected Academic Chief Resident.

Dr. Bansal’s research has been published in academic and medical journals around the world, and she has helped with humanitarian efforts in hospitals and clinics around the world. Dr. Bansal has also worked with the Baltimore Orioles to promote skin cancer awareness and sun safety.

Since opening her private practice in 2011, Dr. Bansal has gone on to expand the practice to include several mid-level providers and a cosmetic nurse under her leadership, as well as a fully trained staff to help with patient needs. She provides a full range of dermatologic, medical, cosmetic, and surgical services to patients of all ages, including pediatric, disabled, and elderly dermatologic care. Dr. Bansal dedicates her time to building her practice to best serve her patients and the Howard County community.

Dr. Bansal lives in Ellicott City with her husband and two children.

Shea Wesley, FNP-BC

Shea Wesley, originally from Louisville, Kentucky, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She attended the University of Kentucky for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse for five years at Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital.

Her passion of caring for patients, led her to pursue an advanced nursing degree. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with her Masters of Science in Nursing. She completed the Family Nurse practitioner program in the spring of 2022.

Her passion for skin health and patient well-being drives her to deliver personalized treatment plans and educate individuals on skincare practices. With a commitment to evidence-based practice, Shea aims to enhance the quality of life for those she serves by promoting healthy skin and addressing various dermatological concerns. She is thrilled to continue her journey in dermatology, exploring advancements in the field and providing exceptional care to her patients.

When she isn’t at the Dermatology office, she enjoys exercising on her peloton or taking a pure barre class. She also loves traveling to new places with her husband, Sam, and spending time with her family and friends.

Elizabeth DiPaola Smith , FNP, BC

Elizabeth DiPaola Smith (Liz) FNP-BC hails from Annapolis, Maryland, and is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She attended James Madison University in Virginia for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She worked as a registered nurse at the University of Maryland Medical Center Downtown Baltimore’s Adult Emergency Department for five years.

Liz’s motivation to provide further care for her patients sparked her interest in attending Nurse Practitioner school. She received her Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from George Mason University in Virginia.

After struggling with her acne and many failed acne treatments with prior dermatologists, Liz began to put research into her own hands. She began to love it so much that she was spending her free time recommending treatments for her family and friends realizing this was what she was meant to do. Liz completed nurse practitioner clinical hours in dermatology and enjoyed working with her hands through extractions, biopsies, and injectables. The technical skills and “detective-like” aspect of dermatology gave her the thrill and passion she was searching for in a career. Liz is committed to providing her patients educational and practical dermatologic and aesthetic care.

When she isn’t in the dermatology office, Liz loves spending time with her Fiancé, family, friends, and Yorkshire terrier “Riley.” She appreciates time at any beach and relaxing with a thrilling book.

Dathao Huynh, FNP-BC

Thao Huynh, graduated from Ohio University and received her Master of Nursing Degree from Columbus State University, specializing in Family Medicine. Thao Huynh is licensed by the State of Maryland and nationally certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She was trained and worked under two respected dermatologists in Maryland prior to joining our team. Thao Huynh treats a variety of dermatological conditions and performs multiple surgical as well as cosmetic procedures.

Being born and raised in Vietnam, her understanding of different cultures affords her the ability to see situations through the eyes of others. In caring for her patients, especially those from foreign lands, she often finds that she asks more questions about their perspective of their illness. In doing so, she has found that many people don’t understand what is wrong with their bodies and how to work towards better health. It has become a purpose in her healthcare career to fill in those gaps.

In her free time, Thao Huynh is very involved in the Buddhist community. She frequently helps with cooking and fund raising for local Vietnamese temples. She feels that it is a great way to recharge her soul and mind and get ready for her patients the next day.

Sook Hyun, MSN-FNP-C

Sook Hyun, is a Howard County local and certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She worked as a registered nurse on an Internal Medicine unit for seven years at Johns Hopkins Hospital before obtaining an advanced practice degree. While at Johns Hopkins, she was intrigued by treating patients with rare dermatological conditions. As a lifelong learner committed to more autonomy, she attended George Washington University to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing. She is excited to be able to focus and treat the patient as a whole independently.

Sook is a compassionate provider who specializes in serving patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. At a young age, Sook knew dermatology was her passion when she dealt with acne and her family members struggled with psoriasis. Her family combined medicine and alternative medicine to maintain those conditions.

As a nurse practitioner in dermatology and aesthetics, her goal is to provide the best quality care and to ensure the patients look and feel confident in their skin. She emphasizes promoting healthy skin, naturopathic approaches, and involving patients in their own care. She is excited to work with such a diverse team and community to assess, treat, and educate on various dermatologic conditions.

When she is not in the office, she likes to travel, cook, eat good food, and spend time with her family and friends.

Sherry Cohen, FNP-BC

Sherry Guralnick Cohen received her Master of Science and Post Master’s Certificate from University of Maryland School of Nursing. She was certified as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse before becoming a Nurse Practitioner. As a Family Nurse Practitioner she has more than 20 years of experience in Dermatology.

She has worked at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore City Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. From 1997-2006 she worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Dermatology in clinical practice and research. She was the Study Nurse Coordinator for multiple dermatology studies. Since 2006 she has worked in private practice in dermatology. Her practice includes medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She has a special interest in psycho-cutaneous medicine.

Sherry has teaching experience as a Faculty Associate with University of Maryland Graduate School and Clinical Instructor in Clinical and Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She has published in Advances for Nurse Practitioners, Contemporary Pediatrics and contributed a chapter to the new 5th edition of Pediatric Dermatology. Professional affiliations include Nurse Practitioners Association of Maryland, Dermatology Nurses Association, and American Academy of Pediatrics.

Rosena Cheng, ANP/GNP-BC

Rosena Cheng is a nurse practitioner board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University and her Master of Science in Nursing from The Hunter Bellevue College of Nursing. Rosena’s healthcare career began at Lenox Hill Hospital (New York City) in the Operating room, where she began her surgical training in 2008

Upon moving to Maryland, Rosena worked at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She advanced her surgical training and had independent clinics at three satellite locations. In 2019, she joined Annapolis Dermatology Associates. She specialized in dermatological surgeries including Mohs and excisional procedures. In addition, Rosena treated patients in medical and general dermatology clinics. She also received certifications and performed aesthetic procedures such as injections and laser treatments.

Rosena is thrilled to join the amazing team at Medical and Aesthetic Dermatology and to continue her love of dermatology. She believes in promoting skin health and education through continuous learning of advancements in skincare science. She is committed to providing compassionate and individualized care.

Rosena resides in Ellicott City with her husband and two children.

Gabriela Perdomo-Jones, PA-C

Gabriela “Gaby” Perdomo-Jones, PA-C, is a board certified Physician Assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed through the Maryland Board of Physicians.
Gabriela was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She received a full scholarship to attend the Honors Program at Florida State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2012. Gabriela subsequently attended Barry University Physician Assistant Program in Miami Shores, Florida. She excelled in both the academic and clinical settings, earning top marks from preceptors in all her clinical rotations. She graduated at the top of her class in 2016, earning a Master of Clinical Medical Science.

Gabriela began practicing Dermatology in 2017. Her primary goal is to show all of her patients compassion, educate them on their dermatologic condition, and ensure it does not negatively impact their quality of life. She truly understands the importance of feeling good in your own skin after struggling with acne for many years as a young adult.

Gabriela is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA).

In her spare time, Gabriela enjoys trying new recipes, spending time outdoors, and enjoying quality time with her husband and daughter.

Gabriela has enjoyed working for Dr. Bansal since 2018. After taking a break in 2022 to focus on her family, she is excited to be rejoining the practice in 2024 and offering telemedicine services for the convenience of her patients.

Stephanie Morgan, RN

Stephanie is a Registered Nurse with several years of experience in aesthetic medicine.

She started in the aesthetics industry in 2015 as an Esthetician licensed in Pennsylvania working in a day spa setting, but always wanted to do more medical aesthetic work.

In 2018, she went on to get her Cosmetic Laser Technician certification through National Laser Institute, and began working in Medical Spa facilities. She has a strong passion for helping people feel better about themselves, and wanted to be able to expand her skills and offer additional services to her patients.

She continued her education and graduated from Harford Community College in 2023 with her nursing degree, and has since been expanding her expertise with cosmetic injections and her knowledge of both medical and aesthetic dermatology.

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their two Cattle dogs; Maisy and Finn. She loves exploring new towns and restaurants, as well as hiking and spending time outside.
