Pre-Post Procedure Instructions

 

Lasers:

IPL: (Hair Reduction)

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Avoid excess sun exposure
  2. Shave 3 days prior to treatment day (no plucking, tweezing, waxing, threading)
  3. Avoid wearing makeup on treatment day if possible
  4. Avoid using active ingredients – Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C for three days before

Post-Procedure:

  1. Avoid plucking hairs – do not use an epilator, tweezers, thread, or wax
  2. Avoid excess sun exposure
  3. Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer, such as Push Cream
  4. Can resume active ingredients (Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C) in 3-5 days post treatment
  5. Can wear makeup post treatment
  6. Use zinc oxide based sunscreen daily

IPL: (Photorejuvenation)

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Avoid excess sun exposure
  2. Stop using oral doxycycline/minocycline prior to treatment
  3. Avoid using active ingredients – Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C
  4. Do not use self tanning products
  5. Avoid wearing makeup on treatment day if possible

Post-Procedure:

  1. Avoid picking at any crusting of pigmented spots
  2. Avoid excess sun exposure
  3. Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer, such as Push Cream
  4. Can resume active ingredients (Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C) in 3-5 days post treatment
  5. Can wear makeup post treatment
  6. Use zinc oxide based sunscreen

Clear and Brilliant/ Ultralase

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Avoid excess sun
  2. Avoid using active ingredients – Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C 3-5 days before treatment day

  4. Avoid wearing makeup on treatment day if possible

Post-Procedure:

  1. Avoid picking at any flaking on the treatment area(s)
  2. Avoid excess sun exposure
  3. Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer, such as Push Cream
  4. Can resume active ingredients (Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C) in 3-5 days post treatment
  5. Use zinc oxide based sunscreen

Morpheus 8:

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Avoid using Retinoids, Glycolic Acids, AHA 3-5 days before treatment
  2. Avoid sun exposure
  3. Avoid wearing makeup on treatment day if possible

  5. Avoid blood thinners (NSAIDs, Fish Oil, etc)
  6. Not for patients who have defibrillators/metal implants/pregnant/breastfeeding

Post-Procedure:

  1. DO NOT USE ICE, okay to use FAN or cool washcloths
  2. Use zinc oxide sunscreen
  3. Avoid strenuous activities
  4. Limit sun exposure – may feel some photosensitivity
  5. Avoid active ingredients (Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C) for the first 1-3 days, but okay to resume use 3-5 days post treatment
  6. 1-3 days post treatment, small scabs may form, avoid picking at them
  7. Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer, such as Push Cream
  8. Wait 72 hours to apply makeup

Sofwave:

Pre-Procedure:

Post-Procedure:

  1. Use zinc oxide sunblock daily

Fillers:

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Minimize alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to treatment
  2. Stop use of NSAIDs, fish oil, herbal meds
  3. 2 days prior, avoid using topical retinoids
  4. Avoid waxing and bleaching to treatment area
  5. Notify the provider if taking blood thinners

Post-Procedure:

  1. Tylenol is okay to use status post treatment
  2. Avoid exercising for the first 24 hours
  3. Ice!

Botox:

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Avoid alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to treatment
  2. Avoid use of blood thinners; notify the provider
  3. Do not lie down for 4 hours after treatment
  4. Do not massage, rub, or put excessive pressure (tight headbands, hats, etc.) on treated areas for 4 hours post

Post-Procedure:

  1. Wait 24 hours after appointment to exercise (specifically for crow’s feet)

Chemical Peels/Micro Peels:

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Avoid excess sun exposure
  2. Avoid using active ingredients – Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C, 3-5 days before treatment day
  3. Let provider know if pregnant or breastfeeding

Post-Procedure:

  1. Avoid excess sun exposure for ~1 week
  2. Do not pluck/pick at skin flakes; if necessary, cut with small scissors
  3. Use zinc oxide sunblock
  4. Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer like Push cream
  5. May resume active ingredients – Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA, Vitamin C, 3-5 days after treatment

Swift:

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Ice treatment area
  2. Can use numbing cream, if provided

Post-Procedure:

  1. No downtime – no scarring, no visible reactions
  2. Patient is to come once a month for 3 months

Keralase:

Pre-Procedure:

  1. Wash and dry hair the night before treatment day (hair should not be wet when patient arrives) and do not apply anything onto scalp or hair on the day of treatment
  2. Limit sun exposure to treatment area

Post-Procedure:

  1. Do not wash hair for 24 hours after treatment
  2. Can use Nutrafol serum or other hair products after 24 hours
  3. Follow post care with product every night for 7 days
