Phototherapy:
Narrowband UVB (NB-UVB) therapy is a highly effective dermatological treatment that uses a specific wavelength of ultraviolet B light, typically 311–313 nanometers, to address various chronic skin conditions. It is considered more targeted and safer compared to broad-spectrum UV treatments and has become a foundational therapy in dermatology clinics globally. It has been used for thousands of years to slow the rapid growth of pathogenic skin cells, reduce inflammation, and stimulate melanocytes. NB-UVB therapy is effective for conditions such as:
- Psoriasis: Reduces plaque thickness, scaling, and inflammation.
- Vitiligo: Stimulates repigmentation in areas lacking pigment.
- Atopic dermatitis (eczema): Decreases inflammation and helps relieve itchiness.
- Other chronic dermatoses: Includes mycosis fungoides, pruritus, lichen planus, and polymorphous light eruption.
